Urlacher Brother, Now Mayor Of Northwest Suburb, Eyes State Senate Seat

(CBS) – Big news from northwest suburban mayor Casey Urlacher: The brother of beloved former Chicago Bear Brian Urlacher is running for higher office.

CBS 2's Brad Edward reports.

Mayor Casey Urlacher of Mettawa his setting his sights on an Illinois Senate seat, that of the 26th District.

"I feel like I could get down there and do some good in Springfield," he says, commenting on the current dysfunction in the state capital. "It's almost like you want to lock them into a room, Speaker Madigan and the governor, and say let's get this done."

The 26th Senate District seat will be vacant because Dan Duffy is not running again. It covers southern and central Lake County, southeastern McHenry County and northwestern Cook County.

Two others are lining up for the Republican nomination: Dan McConchie and Barrington Hills Village President Martin McLaughlin.
