UPS Truck Strikes Pedestrian In Evanston

(CBS) – A female pedestrian was struck by a United Parcel Service delivery truck Monday in Evanston.

Police say the 30-year-old was walking across Ashland Avenue around 5 p.m. when she was struck by the UPS truck that had turned onto the street. The pedestrian had to be extricated from beneath the truck, Evanston police said.

She was transported to Evanston-NorthShore University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. An investigation continues.

UPS said it was cooperating with authorities and said the driver was "experienced."
