Hammond Police Looking For Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run

(STMW) -- A person was killed in a hit-and-run accident Saturday night in northwest Indiana.

The unidentified male was struck about 8:45 p.m. near 169th Street and Calumet Avenue in Hammond, Hammond police Lt. Richard Hoyda said. He was dead at the scene, according to the Lake County coroner's office.

The vehicle involved is thought to be a black pickup truck with tinted windows and a "4 x 4" logo on it, Hoyda said.

The male, described only as white, died of blunt force trauma, and his death was ruled an accident, the coroner's office said.
