Uber and Lyft dropping mask requirement for riders and drivers
CHICAGO (CBS)-- Uber and Lyft are ditching masks, a day after a federal judge in Florida struck down a federal requirement for masks on planes and other public transportation.
Lyft and Uber both announced Tuesday that their riders and drivers no longer need to wear masks.

"We know that everyone has different comfort levels, and anyone who wants to continue wearing a mask is encouraged to do so. As always, drivers or riders can decline to accept or cancel any ride they don't wish to take," Lyft said in a statement.
"The CDC order requiring masks while using rideshare platforms such as Uber is no longer in effect, and we've revised our COVID-19 mask and front-seat policies accordingly," Uber wrote in emails to users on Tuesday.
Both companies asked their drivers and riders to be respectful if someone does and doesn't wear a mask.
As for Chicago's public transportation services, CTA and Metra are still requiring masks for riders.
