U.S. Rep. Kelly Launching Anti-Violence Initiative

CHICAGO (CBS) -- U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly is leading a congressional delegation to Chicago this week to push for a new federal effort to curb gun violence in urban areas.

Members of Congress from five states will arrive on Friday to launch the Urban Progress Initiative, touted as a new federal effort to spur economic development and reduce violence, WBBM's Craig Dellimore reports.

The delegation will tour three community-based organizations that have help reduce violence in their areas:

  • South Side YMCA, 6330 S. Stony Island Ave.
  • Kids Off the Block, 11618 S. Michigan Ave.
  • Inner City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), 2744 W. 63rd Street
