U.S. Cellular Could Be Next Venue For Outdoor NHL Game

(CBS) An outdoor NHL game may be coming to yet another venue in Chicago.

The NHL is open to having U.S. Cellular Field, home of the White Sox, host an outdoor contest in the coming years, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Wrigley Field hosted the Winter Classic in 2009, while Soldier Field will host a contest between the Blackhawks and Penguins on March 1 as part of the Stadium Series.

"Look, Chicago is a great market," NHL chief operating officer John Collins told the Sun-Times. "We'll get through the successes of this year and we'll be able to sit down and really figure out what the plan is going forward. But yeah, sure. Comiskey is a great park."

The NHL has had preliminary discussions with the White Sox, the Sun-Times reported.
