Two Wounded In Northwest Side Drive-By Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two people were shot early Sunday while sitting in a vehicle in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The duo was sitting in a vehicle pulled up to the curb in the 2200 block of North Mango Avenue a few minutes before 4 a.m. when someone in a dark SUV pulled up and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

A 30-year-old woman was shot in the left wrist and a 25-year-old man was shot in the right buttocks, Alfaro said. Both were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in "stable" condition.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
