Two Women Shot, One Fatally, On West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two women were shot — one fatally — in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened at 4:17 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Monroe Street, police said. One woman, 21, was shot in the arm, police said.

The other woman, also 21, was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. She was identified as Shambreyh Barfield of the 6900 block of South Winchester Avenue, the medical examiner's office said.
