Two Shot — One Fatally — In Brighton Park Bar Shooting

(STMW) -- A man was fatally shot and another was injured in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood early Sunday.

About 2:35 a.m., a male walked into a bar in the 4400 block of South Kedzie Avenue and began firing shots, police said.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the chest and was unresponsive on the scene, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed his death but could not provide additional details.

Another man in his 30s was shot in the side and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, police said.

A witness at the scene said he was inside the bar when he went to the bathroom and heard gunshots. He turned around and saw the two victims on the floor, he said.

The witness said he was "not surprised" the shooting occurred at the bar.
