Two Shot On Dan Ryan Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Part of the Dan Ryan Expressway was shut down for nearly five hours overnight, after two people were shot in the northbound lanes.

Police said the driver and passenger of a Chevy sedan were shot just before midnight Monday night as they were headed north near 71st Street.

The 16-year-old boy and 20-year-old man both were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Police said their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The bullet-riddled car came to a stop at the top of the 59th Street exit ramp.

Illinois State Police shut down the Dan Ryan north of 72nd Street after finding bullet casings near 71st Street.

The lanes were reopened around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning.
