Two Shot In South Shore Drive-By

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were wounded in a drive-by shooting Thursday evening in the South Shore neighborhood.

Police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco said someone leaned from a gray four-day sedan on the 2500 block of East 79th Street at about 6:15 p.m. and opened fire on a store.

A 53-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both of whom were inside the store at the time, were wounded.

The man suffered a wound to the right hip and was transported in serious condition to Advocate Christ Hospital, in Oak Lawn, where he was stabilized.

The woman was shot in the right leg and was transported in serious condition to South Shore Hospital, where doctors stabilized her.

Police did not immediately have a description of the gunman. Area South detectives are investigating.
