4-Year-Old Among Two Shot In Greater Grand Crossing

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A young man was killed and a 4-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Greater Grand Crossing.

The shooting happened at 72nd and Wentworth just after 3 p.m., as 26-year-old Brett Ewing and a 4-year-old boy were in a vehicle, when someone got out of another car and opened fire.

Someone drove the victims to St. Bernard Hospital, but Ewing was later transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 6:37 p.m.

The 4-year-old was transferred to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was being treated for a single gunshot wound to the wrist.

No one was in custody early Wednesday.
