Two Shot At Wheeling Apartment Complex

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two people were shot during a drug deal gone bad Tuesday night in northwest suburban Wheeling, according to police.

Two groups arranged to meet in the 400 block of West McHenry Road to buy and sell drugs, according to a statement from Wheeling police. Witnesses said the drug deal went bad and multiple people pulled out handguns and shot each other.

At 7 p.m., officers responded to the Walgreens at 1199 W. Dundee Rd. and found a male who had been shot, police said. About 40 minutes later, a second person showed up at a local hospital suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Both victims suffered non-life-threatening wounds and are expected to make a full recovery, police said.

Three suspects are in custody and detectives are working with the Cook County state's attorney's office on possible charges, police said.
