Two Police Officers, Firefighter Hurt Responding To West Pullman Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two Chicago Police officers were sent to a hospital and a firefighter suffered minor injuries in a West Pullman neighborhood house fire early Thursday on the Far South Side.

The officers, both men in their 30s, knocked on the door of the home in the 12400 block of South State Street about 4 a.m. and searched it after a neighbor reported seeing smoke, according to police and fire officials.

They suffered minor smoke inhalation and were taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island as a precaution, authorities said.

The blaze was put out in less than an hour. A firefighter was treated and released at the scene for a minor injury, officials said.

No residents were displaced from the home due to the fire.
