Two Officers Hurt In Calumet Heights Rollover Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two Chicago Police officers were hurt in a rollover crash Sunday night in the South Side Calumet Heights neighborhood.

The officers were responding to a call and heading north in the 8800 block of South Jeffery Boulevard about 10:45 p.m. when a woman driving a silver sedan west on 89th Street collided with the police SUV in the intersection, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The force of the crash smashed the police vehicle into another SUV near the intersection, with the squad car flipping over, Alfaro said.

The two officers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

The woman, whose age was not immediately known, ran away from the crash scene, but she was later arrested at her home, police said. Charges are pending against her.

The police Major Accidents Investigation unit is handling the case.
