Two Of Three Victims ID'd In Lake County Crash, Explosion
(CBS) -- The Lake County, Ill. Coroner's Office has identified two of the people who died in Wednesday's fiery pre-dawn crash in far north suburban Ingleside.
The driver is identified as 30-year-old Jon McKinney of Round Lake Beach, and one of the passengers is 33-year-old Michael Mortensen, of Ingleside. Both were identified using dental records.
The coroner hopes to identify the third victim using DNA.
Police still do not know what caused McKinney to lose control of his Kia Optima, which veered about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday off of Rollins Road near Lake Shore Drive, struck a tree and exploded.
A passerby who attempted to rescue the three was driven back by the flames.
