Two OEMC Operators Receive Suspensions For Handling Of Quintonio LeGreir's 9-1-1 Calls
(CBS) --Two operators at Chicago's 9-1-1 call center received suspensions over their roles in the Quintonio LeGrier case.
Quintonio LeGrier called 9-1-1 three times in the early hours of December 26 saying his life was being threatened. Officers were not sent after the first two calls, so those two call takers received suspensions.
The first call taker was suspended for three days and the second call taker for one day.
Police were sent to LeGrier's West Side home after his third 9-1-1 call. One of the officers shot and killed LeGrier saying the teen was coming at officers with a baseball bat. That officer also accidentally shot and killed LeGrier's neighbor, 55-year-old Bettie Jones.
