Two Men Found Dead In Home Under Construction In Lockport

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in southwest suburban Lockport have launched a death investigation, after two construction workers were found dead Tuesday morning in a home under construction.

Officers were called to the 16100 block of Coneflower Drive around 6:30 a.m. for a report of a person down. Police said two men were found dead inside the building. WBBM's Andy Dahn reports.

The Will County coroner's office identified the victims as brothers: 37-year-old Marco Ceja Sanchez and 36-year-old David Ceja Sanchez.

A spokesperson for the Sagebrook subdivision confirmed the two men worked for a contractor. A supervisor found them dead in a home under construction. The cause of death has not been determined, but police said it is a homicide case.

"The Lockport Police Department is conducting a death investigation in cooperation with the Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force. A cause of death has not been determined at this time," police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

The Lockport police chief is trying to ease the fear of neighbors.

"There is no reason to believe the community is in danger" said Lockport Police Chief, Terry Lemming. "It appears that the incident was isolated within that townhouse. And the townhouse is a new construction townhouse and is currently unoccupied."

"We just moved in here Saturday," said neighbor, Karen Velazquez. "It was rainy and dark so we didn't hear anything . Yesterday during the day you just hear the construction. No, i didn't see anything out of their ordinary or suspicious."

Police have been tight-lipped on the incident. When the police chief was asked how the two victims died, he would only says "it does not appear to be natural causes."
