Two Men Charged With Trying To Steal Woman's Purse In Lakeview

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men have been accused of trying to steal a woman's purse early Thursday in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side.

Lawrence L. Wolaridge, 22, and 19-year-old Kendrick L. Sandifer have each been charged with one felony count of attempted robbery, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

About midnight Thursday, the two men approached a 33-year-old woman walking in the 1600 block of West Addison and attempted to pull her purse from her grasp, police said.

The woman struggled and, after the men couldn't get control of the bag, they ran away, police said.

Responding officers got detailed physical descriptions of the men and spotted the pair while canvassing the area a short time later, police said. After a brief chase, both men were arrested.

Wolaridge, of the 1200 block of North Lockwood, and Sandifer, of the 5300 block of West Hirsch, are both scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.
