Two Men Charged In Lakeview Robbery

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Bond was set at $100,000 for each of two men charged with robbing a woman Monday night in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side.

Michael Lee, 22, and 20-year-old Devontae King each face a felony count of robbery, according to Chicago Police. Lee also faces a misdemeanor count of battery.

About 10:45 p.m., the 23-year-old woman was walking with cash in her hand in the 3100 block of North Clark Street when the men walked up and stole the money, police said.

A 25-year-old man who witnessed the robbery tried to intervene, and Lee punched him in the head before they ran off, police said.

Both were arrested a short time later and identified as the robbers, police said. The woman was not injured.

Lee, of the 1400 block of South Canal, and King, of the 400 block of East 51st Street, appeared in court Wednesday, where a judge ordered them held on $100,000 bonds, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.

They are due back in court Oct. 26.
