Two Injured In Brighton Park Rollover Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two people were seriously injured in a rollover crash Thursday morning in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The three-vehicle crash happened about 5:50 a.m. near 43rd and Western, according to Chicago Police.

A Toyota RAV4 was outbound on Western and tried to turn left onto 43rd during a green light, according to police. The driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck a black SUV, then flipped over and landed on a third vehicle stopped at the red light.

The driver of the Toyota, a 71-year-old man, and his passenger, a 67-year-old woman, were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, according to police and fire officials. Police said their injuries are not life-threatening.

No one else was hurt in the crash. Citations are pending against the 71-year-old driver.
