Two Girls Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In Dunning

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two girls were struck by a car Tuesday morning in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The girls, ages 7 and 14, were struck by a vehicle in the 3400 block of North Austin about 8 a.m., according to Chicago Police.

The younger girl was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious condition, police said. It was not immediately known if the older girl was hospitalized.

The driver did not stop at the scene, but was taken into custody a short distance away, police said. Charges are pending.

The Chicago Academy High School and Chicago Academy Elementary School are both located on the block where the crash happened.
