Two Firefighters Injured Battling West Town Blaze

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two firefighters were injured while battling a fire in the West Town neighborhood on the North Side early Monday.

The fire was called in at 2:41 a.m. at a one-story commercial building in the 2200 block of West Grand Avenue, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Jeff Lyle said.

Neither firefighter had life-threatening injuries, according to Fire Media Affairs. One firefighter was hurt from a fall and was taken to Rush University Medical Center, Lyle said. The second firefighter's specific injuries or hospital information were not known.

No other injuries were reported.

Crews were getting ready to leave the scene by 4:30 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs. The damage to the building or a preliminary cause was not immediately known.
