Two Families Displaced By Austin fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A fire at a vacant building in the West Side Austin neighborhood displaced two families from adjacent homes late Thursday.

The blaze was reported shortly after 10 p.m. in the 800 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to Chicago Police.

Houses on either side of the burning building sustained significant damage and left two families homeless, police said. The Chicago Red Cross was assisting them.

The fire was extinguished just before 11 p.m., according to the fire department. No one was hurt.

The cause is under investigation.
