Two Dead In Shooting On Kennedy Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were fatally shot on the Kennedy Expressway early Sunday morning.

According to Illinois State Police, a silver Chevrolet Tahoe, traveling northbound, was stopped in traffic at Armitage about 4 a.m.

When police arrived, they found the male driver and female passenger dead.

Both had been shot in the head, police said.

Illinois State Police identified the victims as 43-year-old Eric Taylor and 36-year-old Camille Cooley, both of Waukegan.

A black semi-automatic weapon was located inside of the vehicle on the driver's side floorboard, police said.

All northbound local lanes were closed for an investigation, but the express lanes remained open.

Police opened all lanes around 7:30 a.m.
