Two Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide At Texas Air Force Base

(CBS) -- Law enforcement officials in Texas said at least two people have been killed in an apparent murder-suicide at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The Bexar County Sheriff's office said two bodies were found Friday morning in a room at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, after responding to reports of an active shooter.

Police said it's believed the shooter is one of the two who were killed, but a search is underway in the building and nearby facilities.

Lackland is a basic training facility for the Air Force.

In 2009, Fort Hood, which is about 160 miles from Lackland Air Force Base, was the site of the deadliest shooting at a U.S. military base, when 13 people were killed and 31 were injured.

CBS affiliate KENS-TV reported that the base as well as three nearby schools were on lockdown.
