Two Cops Taken To Hospital After Police SUV Strikes Tree

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two police officers were taken to a hospital early Saturday after their SUV slid on ice and slammed into a tree on the South Side.

The officers were responding to an assist call about 1:40 a.m. when the SUV slipped on ice in the 500 block of West 79th Street, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, Greer said.

The two officers in the SUV were taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for precautionary observations and were later released, police said.
