Two children hit by pickup truck in Hermosa

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two children were hit and injured by a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon in the Hermosa neighborhood.

Police said at 4 p.m., a 43-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado north on Tripp Avenue approaching Dickens Avenue, when he hit two girls – ages 2 and 12 – who were in the intersection waiting to cross the street.

The victims were taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet was cited for failure to yield to pedestrians.
