Two Chicago Police Officers Hurt In NW Side Crash

(CBS) -- Two Chicago police officers have been hurt in a collision on the Northwest Side and police say a 30-year-old man has been ticketed for causing the accident.

The police officers were in a marked SUV responding to a call for assistance just before midnight. And police say the officers had their lights and sirens on.

At Irving Park and Melvina, police say a sedan driven by a 30-year-old Berwyn man collided with the police SUV. The SUV then hit a light pole.

The two officers were taken to hospitals - but neither was believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

The Berwyn man has been cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
