Two Arrested After Shots Fired At Cops In Robbins

ROBBINS, Ill. (CBS) -- Two people were in custody and police were conducting a manhunt for a third suspect who went on the run after shots were fired at police in south suburban Robbins on Friday.

Cook County Sheriff's police were assisting in the investigation, bringing in metal detectors and other tools to search for bullet casings after a pre-dawn shootout.

Around 4 a.m., Robbins police responded to reports of gunfire between rival gang factions along Central Park Avenue near 134th Street. When officers arrived, some of the shooters turned their guns on police, and at least one officer returned fire.

Three suspects fled the scene, and stopped after a few blocks, then ran into a nearby wooded area.

Two of the suspects were arrested a short time later, but a third got away.

A description of the suspect who is still at large was not available late Monday morning.
