Toews Named A Selke Trophy Finalist

(CBS) Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews has been named a Selke Trophy finalist, the NHL announced on Thursday.

The award is given annually to the league's best defensive forward. The other finalists were the Bruins' Patrice Bergeron and the Kings' Anze Kopitar.

The 25-year-old Toews had a plus-26 rating this season in 76 games and also had 51 takeaways. Toews was also fifth in the NHL with 884 faceoff wins, with a faceoff win percentage of 57.2.

Toews won the Selke Trophy last season and was also a finalist for the award after the 2010-'11 season, when he finished second. Troy Murray and Dirk Graham are the other two players in franchise history to earn the honor.

The award's winner will be announced on June 24 in Las Vegas.
