Tim Beckman: Disappointed By Allegations, Overwhelmed By Support

(AP) Illinois coach Tim Beckman says he is disappointed by the way former Illini football player Simon Cvijanovic has aired complaints about the handling of his injuries, but Beckman says he appreciates support he has received.

Beckman has declined to be interviewed since Cvijanovic first began accusing Beckman and his staff on Sunday of pressuring him to play when hurt and not providing full information about the injuries. The former offensive lineman began his complaints on Twitter but has since conducted a number of interviews.

In a brief statement released Tuesday, Beckman says he has been "overwhelmed by the support" from current and former players and families.

Athletic director Mike Thomas has said he supports Beckman but said the accusations will be reviewed.
