Three Women Mugged In Roscoe Village And Lakeview

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three women were mugged in a 10-hour period in the Lakeview and Roscoe Village neighborhoods this week.

The most recent attack was Tuesday morning, when a woman was robbed by two young men around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Roscoe Street and Marshfield Avenue.

Then, around 8:35 a.m., a woman had her purse stolen by a man in an alley near Oakdale Avenue and Halsted Street in the Lakeview neighborhood. The victim told the Crime In Wrigleyville + Boystown blog the man who took her purse had a woman in an SUV waiting for him. She said, during a struggle with her attacker, they pulled each other's hair, and he threw her over a small fence.

At 10:35 p.m. Monday, a 58-year-old retired Chicago police officer was standing in her front yard on the 1800 block of West Cornelia Avenue, when a man approached her, knocked her to the ground, and stole her purse. She was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the search for suspects in each case continues, and residents in the area should be extra vigilant.
