(CBS) – Three 18-year-olds were killed Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in the far northwest suburbs.

Authorities responded around 2 p.m. to a call of an accident at 1308 S. Lily Lake Road in unincorporated McHenry.

The driver, a male, and a female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said in a news release. A third occupant of the vehicle, a female, was transported to Centegra McHenry Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department identified the victims as James Seward of McHenry, who had been driving; and Kelly Cronin of Island Lake and Promise Williamsen of Holiday Hills.

Williamsen, the accident victim who was taken to the hospital, was the owner of the car. She had been seated in the front passenger seat, the sheriff's department said.

The 1994 Chevrolet Camaro the teens were in was southbound and passed a curve when it veered off the road and collided with trees. The car came to a rest on its left side, the sheriff's department said.

All occupants were wearing seat belts and airbags deployed, police said. An investigation continues.
