Three Men Shot -- One Fatally -- On North Side, Near Mayor's Residence

(CBS) -- Three men were shot—one fatally—in the North Center neighborhood Friday evening, not far from Mayor Emanuel's residence.

Police and paramedics responded around 7:30 p.m. to a report that three males had been shot in the 1900 block of West Belle Plaine. CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports the incident occurred inside an apartment building.

Witnesses say they did not hear shots, but they did hear yelling. Two people -- a woman and a man -- were seen being led away by police, who reportedly stormed the building.

One of the male shooting victims, hit by gunfire in the chest, was dead at the scene, while two other men, also in their 20s, were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, the Chicago Fire Department said.

Residents say they have been concerned about drug activity.

The shooting happened about three blocks from Emanuel's Ravenswood home.

No further information was available.
