Three Shot In University Village

(STMW) -- Three people were shot early Saturday in the University Village neighborhood on the South Side.

Two 17-year-old boys and a 21-year-old man were standing outside about 2:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of West 14th Street when a light-colored car drove up, police said. Two males exited the vehicle and fired shots before they jumped back in the car and it sped away.

All three were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. The 21-year-old was shot in the head and listed in critical condition, while one teenager was shot in the arm and leg and the other was shot in the leg. The teens' conditions were stabilized.

A police source said all three are documented gang members.
