Three Charged With Shooting At Waukegan Police

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three men were charged with shooting at police officers early Friday in north suburban Waukegan.

About 2 a.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 3000 block of Arthur Court, according to Waukegan police.

While there, but unrelated to the initial call, one of the officers heard multiple shots ring out. The officer immediately took two men into custody and called for backup, police said.

When three other officers arrived, they heard a voice yell out an obscenity before someone fired shots in their direction, police said. The officers took cover and saw someone run away from the scene.

No one was injured and the officers did not return fire, police said. An investigation led police to the suspected shooter later that morning.

Olvan Quezada, 18, was charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm in the direction of a peace officer, defacing a firearm and possession of a weapon by a gang member, police says. He lives in the 2900 block of 30th Street in Zion.

Quezda was ordered held on a $1 million bond and is next scheduled to appear in Lake County court July 12.

Johnathan Cardona, 24, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and defacing a firearm, police said. William Servin, 19, was charged with defacing a firearm and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card.

Cardona, who lives in the same block as the shooting, was ordered held on a $75,000 bond. Bond was set at $30,000 for Servin, who lives in the 1200 block of Victoria Street in North Chicago. Both men are scheduled to appear in court June 28.
