Three Charged In Fatal Old Town Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three men were charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in the Old Town neighborhood early Sunday.

Eddie Robert Simmons, 21, of the 3400 block of West 5th Avenue; Ahmed Martinez Walker, 18, of the 700 block of West 50th Place; and Matthew Cobbs, 20, of the 2700 block of North Francisco, were each charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that left 27-year-old Nacurvie Smith dead, police announced Friday night.

About 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Smith was found shot in a vehicle in the 400 block of West Evergreen, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Simmons, Walker and Cobbs were seen leaving the scene of the shooting and were "quickly placed into custody" on the Eisenhower Expressway, police said.

The three are scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.
