Three Armed Robberies At Austin Convenience Stores In A Week

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three convenience stores were robbed at gunpoint in a week in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

In the robberies, two men dressed in all black with hats or ski masks have walked into the stores, shown a handgun and demanded cash from the register and employees' wallets, according to a business alert from Austin District detectives.

The robberies happened:

--Nov. 20, about 8:20 p.m. in the 600 block of North Cicero;

--Nov. 26, about 7:15 p.m. in the 4900 block of West Ferdinand and

--Nov. 26, about 8:20 p.m. in the 5400 block of West Chicago.

In one of the incidents, the robbers took off in a small black vehicle, the alert said.

Police cautioned store owners against keeping large amounts of money in registers or carrying large amounts of cash.
