Threatening Weather South Of The City With Torrential Storms And Flooding

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Storms continue Thursday in the forecast, with threatening weather moving south.

Kankakee is on a straight line for storms, that then roll into Northwest Indiana, CBS 2's Megan Glaros reports. Light rain will continue to linger in parts across Lake and Porter counties.

More intense activity occurs in Southern Illinois, in areas including Kouts, Boone and Wheatfield. The National Weather Service warns of strong thunderstorms, with torrential downpours and flooding.

Areas north, including Chicago are receiving a brief break with additional spotty showers to come throughout the day, into the early evening. The chance of rain remains for Thursday and Friday. A cold front is to come through the weekend, with more rain Saturday and Sunday.
