"The Dark Knight" Voted Favorite Among Chicago-Made Films

CHICAGO (CBS) – They asked and Chicago voted. 'The Dark Knight' has been voted as the favorite Chicago-made film among 19 others, including "Blues Brothers" and "Home Alone".

For this first time, the The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events asked Chicagoans and visitors of the Millennium Park Summer Film Series to vote on their favorite Chicago film to be screened for the series' finale this Tuesday.

The audience casted their votes all summer on-site and online. Over 12,000 total votes were casted, but "The Dark Knight" won the nomination gaining 2,333 votes.

"The Dark Knight" was directed by Chicago-native Christopher Nolan and filmed in Chicago during the summer of 2007.

The movie will be screened Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m for the series' 2016 finale.

The Summer Film Series occurs Tuesdays in Millennium Park, from June 21-Aug. 30. The series is free. Guests may sit in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion or on Great Lawn.

Other favorites in this year's line-up included "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "Finding Nemo", "Grease" and "Purple Rain", among other great classics.
