The Bernstein Brief: Steve Kerr Called It

By Dan Bernstein--

(CBS) Not only did Warriors coach Steve Kerr make the move of the night Thursday by starting Andre Iguodala over the laboring Andrew Bogut and sticking with his decision despite early struggles, but he reinforced his reasoning when addressing his team during an early timeout.

ABC microphones in the huddle gave us more than the usual pablum we get from coaches who know we can hear them -- play hard, be smart, keep working, etc. -- with Kerr reminding them that the injury-strapped Cavaliers "only play seven guys" and that they would "wear down."

Indeed they did. The frenetic first-quarter pace favored Kerr's team and he knew it, despite trailing on the scoreboard at that moment.

The more troubling question for Cleveland, however, is this:  Was Kerr merely right about Thursday night's game or was he talking about the series itself?
