The Bernstein Brief: Bulls Make No Sense

(CBS) If Bulls general manager Gar Forman isn't telling the complete truth, we'd sure love to know what he really thinks about this team and what the real plan is going into the summer.

If he does believe everything he said Thursday after the trade deadline passed, then we have to wonder what he's watching. It must be a different Bulls team in a different NBA, then, if he's actually identified a 36-year-old to be part of the "core" of a contender, wants to explore re-signing what's left of Joakim Noah and still thinks this year's bunch is capable of doing anything that matters.

These are hard times to be a fan, watching a depleted roster sag toward the lottery as management tells you all's well with this group kept mostly intact for the rest of the season and beyond.

All's not well. It's very far from well.

There was no indication of any sense of reality at Thursday's trade deadline, no sense that Forman is watching the same games we are. I'm not sure what he's trying to sell us at this point anymore.
