The Bernstein Brief: Back-To-Back Gives Bulls A Chance To Respond

(CBS) The same opponent one night later -- and back on their home floor, no less -- is a much-needed opportunity for the Bulls to show like they want to play as if they care.

Coming immediately after a core-shaking flop against the Timberwolves on Tuesday in which they frittered away a 21-point lead, Thursday night's performance in Milwaukee was almost equally as inexcusable for a team laden with veteran starters and led by someone who fancies himself a superstar.

There are no do-overs after the 108-97 loss, but Friday's rematch stands out as the time to put words into action about effort and execution, remembering all the nice things they were saying about their comfort level playing together when the scoreboard looked better a few weeks ago.

Contemplating the alternative is less attractive, the real possibility that the Bucks' combination of length, speed and athleticism featured by multiple lineups is just something these Bulls can't quite match and will struggle to handle for the foreseeable future.
