The $100 Margarita At Potter's Lounge At Palmer House Hilton

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- If margaritas were big back in the 1800s, Potter Palmer himself, and perhaps only a few others in his mega-rich strata, could afford the concoction currently being offered at his namesake bar.

Potter's Lounge, 124 S. Wabash, at the Palmer House Hilton has a margarita on the menu that costs $100.

It is a summertime special, just released a few weeks ago at the beginning of summer.

The ingredients include Avion Reserva 44 tequila, Grand Marnier Quintessence, simple syrup made in-house with nib sugar imported from Sweden, hand-shaved Maldon sea salt, key limes, finger limes, kumquats, and cilantro.

The Grand Marnier Quintessence is a special product that costs $900 per bottle.

The tequila is $250 a bottle.

The imported sugar is $150.

The finger limes cost $25 for about two dozen and apparently the seeds look like caviar.

Wow, that's quite a cocktail!

It has been ordered three times, sources told CBS 2.
