Thayer: Cutler's Patience Key To Bears' Success On Offense
CHICAGO (CBS) -- With Jay Cutler coming off his first win ever in Green Bay with a 17-13 win over the Packers on Thursday night and arguably having his best season ever in a Bears uniform, radio analyst Tom Thayer said it's clear he's benefiting from the influence of offensive coordinator Adam Gase, in particular the need to show patience.
"Anybody who's shown patience this season because of Adam Gase is Jay Cutler, and that's whether he's trying to scramble away from a little pressure, or just wait for a receiver to get open downfield," Thayer told WBBM Newsradio's Dave Kerner.
Cutler has thrown only six interceptions in 10 games this season, his lowest interception total through the first 10 games of any of his seven seasons with the Bears.
Thayer said Cutler also has benefited from an increased commitment to running the ball.
"They've been content with the production of the running game, and how that's been able to assist the patience of a passing offense, so that is the key ingredient here," he said.
