Teens With Fake Gun Rob Man Of Phone, Pants
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A pair of teenage boys brandishing a fake gun stole a man's pants and cellphone Tuesday afternoon in north suburban Beach Park, according to police.
Lake County sheriff's deputies were called about an armed robbery about 3:15 p.m. in the 11200 block of West Edgewood Road in Beach Park, the sheriff's office said in a statement. The victim, a 19-year-old man, told them his pants and phone were stolen while he was held at gunpoint by two teenage boys.
He told investigators he had arranged a meeting with the teens, who were acquaintances of his. When he arrived to meet them, they robbed him and left the scene, the sheriff's office said.
Detectives were able to identify and apprehend both suspects, according to the sheriff's office. The gun used in the robbery was recovered, and investigators determined it was a replica and not a functioning firearm.
They were each charged with a felony count of aggravated robbery and are being held at the Lake County Hulse Juvenile Detention Center pending a bond hearing, the sheriff's office said.
