Man Wounded When Shots Fired Into Austin Apartment

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 19-year-old man was shot early Wednesday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The man was shot in the right ankle about 4:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of North Lamon Avenue, police said.

He was apparently lying on his couch in the living room of his first floor apartment when seven shots were fired from the outside and bullets came through the window, striking him, police said.

The man was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park in good condition, police said.

Police believe the shooting may have been gang-related.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
