Teen Seriously Hurt In Ashburn Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A teenage boy is in serious condition after he was shot Wednesday afternoon in the Southwest Side Ashburn neighborhood.

The teen was in a vehicle in the 7900 block of South Campbell Avenue about 5:50 p.m. when a suspect walked up, opened the car door and started firing, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.

The teen was shot in the lower back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, O'Brien said. His exact age was not yet known.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
