Teen Killed By Semi Outside Lincoln-Way Central H.S.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 17-year-old boy was killed Friday morning, when he was hit by a semi-tractor trailer as he was crossing the street outside a New Lenox high school.

New Lenox police said the boy, from nearby Manhattan, was crossing U.S. Route 30 outside Lincoln-Way Central High School a few minutes after 10 a.m., when he ended up in the path of a semi.

The truck hit the boy, and the driver stopped at the scene.

Dylan R. Wischover of Manhattan was pronounced dead  at 10:46 a.m. at Silver Cross Hospital. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.

"Dylan had many friends at Lincoln-Way Central High School. The school district will have grief counselors and school psychologists on hand to help students deal with their grief over the loss of their fellow student," R. Scott Tingley, superintendent of Lincoln-Way High School District 210, said in a prepared statement.

Police said no traffic citations or charges were filed against the driver.
